WVS at AAPOR 69th Annual Conference
American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR; http://www.aapor.org/) conducted its 69th Annual Conference “Measurement and the Role of Public Opinion in Democracy”. The conference was held on May 15-18, 2014 in Anaheim, California where more than 1,000 public opinion and survey research professionals gathered for more than three days of extensive learning and networking at the premier event for survey and public opinion researchers from around the globe. Attendees were immersed in the latest trends, innovations and research in the field with more than 500 papers and presentations. In keeping with long-standing AAPOR tradition, the 2014 conference was rich with discussion on the shaping of public opinion and the consequences for individuals and collectives. Presenters addressed current and complex topics in survey research methodology.
World Values Survey Association at the conference was represented by Vice-President Alejandro Moreno, Executive Committee member Marta Lagos and Chair of Scientific Advisory Committee Dr Dariwsh Al-Emadi.
Presentation on History and Future of WVS was given by Dr.Darwish Al-Emadi, Director of Social and Economic Survey Research Institute of Qatar University. The presentation provides information about goals and aims of WVS, history of its development, waves of conducted surveys and research methods, describes involvement of countries of MENA region in WVS, coverage of this region in different waves, and compares survey results in Arab countries to the other regions of the world.
