WVSA President Professor Haerpfer gives a key-note speech at the Aqdar World Summit

The three-day Aqdar World Summit started on Tuesday at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre with the participation of 57 top-notch speakers from different parts of the world and 50 exhibitors. The three-day summit has attracted 59 papers, and will host 24 workshops, said a press release issued by the organisers on Sunday.

The first edition of the summit is being held in cooperation with the United Nations, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), the UAE Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education and Knowledge Authority, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority of Dubai and INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions.

The opening ceremony will include a keynote speech by Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Minister of Education; in addition to five main sessions being attended by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance; Jameela Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education; Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Head of Education and Knowledge Department; Dr Abdullah Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai; and Hessa Bint Eisa Bu Humaid, Minister of Community Development.

The summit will include sessions being attended by Dr Hatem Ali, director, regional office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the UAE, Dr Boyan Radoykov, Chief of Section, Communication and Information Sector at Unesco, and Professor Dr Christian W Haerpfer, President of the World Values Survey Association (WVSA).

The exhibition will be launched at the opening ceremony, which includes presentations for many international and national institutions, and the launch of the second edition of “Express Your Love for the UAE” in addition to a number of other initiatives.

WVSA President Professor Christian W Haerpfer gave a key-note speech devoted to the issue of global values in the world at the Summt's opening on Tuesday. Another talk of Professor Haerpfer will take place on Wednesday and will be devoted to moral education and those values which are considered to be most important in this context by countries and socieities in different cultural zones. It is planned that UAE under the leadership of UAE University in Al Ain will join WVS wave 7 in the course of year 2018. Other Gulf states, including Oman, Kuwait and some others, will join the WVS research program in 2019.
