WVS-Bolivia team releases WVS-7 analytical report!
The team of Ciudadania-Bolivia - the first WVS team to complete WVS-7 survey fieldwork (January 2017) has launched the full analytical report containing the survey findings and outputs. Public launch of the report took place on June, 26. The survey was conducted by Ciudadanía, Comunidad de Estudios Sociales y Acción Pública, a local private research and social action center and led by Dr. Daniel E. Moreno, Principal Investigator of the WVS in Bolivia, with Dr. Vivian Schwarz and Amaru Villanueva as Co-PIs. The survey was designed, implemented and analyzed by Citizenship, Community of Social Studies and Public Action, with the support of Oxfam in Bolivia, of UNICEF, of UNFPA, and the commitment of the Vice Presidency of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, through the editorial contribution of the Center for Social Research.

George Gallup predicted the presidency of Franklin Rossevelt (1936) in the United States a week before the election. This marked the first milestone in the history of public opinion polls. From there, after the Second World War, surveys to investigate the values and attitudes of people became a tool of excellence. Its use was projected from the politics towards other branches of knowledge, among them psychology, economics, sociology and cultural studies.
With the World Values Survey in Bolivia in 2017, a fertile field opens up to analyze the values and attitudes of the Bolivian population, as well as allowing comparison with more than one hundred countries in the world. It also offers the possibility to estimate the relationship of the most outstanding findings in comparative survey research and statistics, grouped in the following six thematic fields -which associate with more than one value- and on which the Bolivian population included into the sample was asked: subjective wellbeing; participation and trust; religiosity and values; gender equality; state, economy and society; and environment and development.
The Center for Social Research (CIS) considers that this survey is a powerful research input that opens new paths of analysis with reliable and comparable information on a global scale. It also hopes that it will serve as an introduction to spaces for reflection and that it will be possible to have, in a short future, research that incorporates the data contained in it.
