Joint EVS/WVS 2017-2020 data-set release
The World Values Survey Association (WVSA) and the European Values Study (EVS) are happy to announce the release of the official joint EVS-WVS 2017-2020 data-set. Fieldwork for this survey round was conducted from early 2017 to mid-2020. The joint data-set covers 79 countries and societies on all inhabited continents around the globe, ranging from Albania, Australia and Argentina to the United States, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. In total, over 127 358 respondents were interviewed so far for this joint EVS-WVS wave.
The World Values Survey Association (WVSA) and the European Values Study (EVS) are happy to announce the release of the official joint EVS-WVS 2017-2020 data-set produced within the framework of the cooperation agreement (Memorandum of Understanding) completed between the two research programs.
In line with it, EVS has been responsible for planning and conducting surveys in European countries, using the EVS questionnaire and EVS methodological guidelines. WVSA has been responsible for planning and conducting surveys in countries in the world outside Europe, using the WVS questionnaire and WVS methodological guidelines. Four countries (Germany, Romania, Russia, and Serbia) conducted surveys in both waves EVS 2017 and WVS7. Both organisations developed their draft questionnaires independently, with the overlapping items defining the Common Core of both questionnaires.

The EVS archive (GESIS-DAS) has been responsible for data archiving and data processing of the European surveys. The WVS archive (JDS Madrid) has been responsible for data archiving and data processing for the non-European surveys including the WVS surveys conducted in several European countries. Based on the Common EVS/EVS Dictionary agreed by EVS and WVS the Joint EVS/WVS 2017-2021 dataset (Joint EVS/WVS) has been constructed in close collaboration. The first version of the Joint EVS/WVS includes data and documentation of altogether 79 countries and territories: 34 from the EVS 2017, 49 from the WVS7. Four of these countries conducted surveys in both waves EVS and WVS.
Access to the data, similiar to the previous rounds, is free, with no registration or payments required. With its main mission to facilitate advancement of Social Sciences worldwide, the WVS Association wants to make sure our survey data can equally serve the needs of the academic community in all parts of the world. WVSA offers the joint data-set in SPSS, Stata, SAS and R formats.
