New V-Drm working paper by WVSA Vice-President Chris Welzel!
V-Dem Users' Working Paper #11: "A Tale of Culture-Bound Regime Evolution: The Centennial Democratic Trend and Its Recent Reversal" by WVSA Vice-President Christian Welzel. Using a new measure of “comprehensive democracy” derived from V-Dem, this analysis traces the global democratic trend over the last 116 years, from 1900 till 2016, looking in particular at the centennial trend’s cultural zoning.

Festive Launch of the WVS-7 in Brazil!
On October, the 24th, the Launch Conference of the WVS-7 survey in Brazil with the simultaneous participation of WVS' members of different teams around the world took place. Scholars had an opportunity to discuss academic research with the use of WVS data in the first half of the Conference and, the second half was dedicated to methodological discussions and challenges of the development of WVS' survey. The Conference was broadcasted live.

WVSA community congratulates Vice-President Christian Welzel on a new grant award!
The German Science Foundation (DFG) has granted Christian Welzel, the Vice-President of the World Values Survey Association, the Reinhard Koselleck Award of the amount of one million Euro to conduct research for the project 'The Cool Water Effect: Why Human Civilization turned towards Emancipation in Cold-Wet Regions.'
